Caprese Skewers on a Board
Bite-size skewers of cherry tomato, basil, and mozzarella lined up in rows on a board and finished with a balsamic glaze.
Turning caprese into skewers makes it easy to serve at a gathering without plates or forks. Lining them up in alternating rows on a wooden board gives the whole platter a striped look before anyone even takes a bite. A light balsamic glaze at the end is enough since the ingredients need very little help.
Ingredients
Method
Tap a number to mark a step doneThread a cherry tomato, a basil leaf folded in half, and a small mozzarella ball onto a short skewer.
Repeat with the remaining cherry tomatoes, basil leaves, and mozzarella balls until you have assembled a full batch of skewers.
Lay the finished skewers in tight rows across a wooden board, alternating direction for a striped look.
Drizzle the entire board with olive oil, letting it settle into the gaps between the skewers.
Finish with a zigzag of balsamic glaze over the top of all the skewers.
Finish with a light sprinkle of kosher salt and a few grinds of black pepper just before serving so the skewers stay crisp.
Kitchen note
Pat the mozzarella balls dry with a paper towel before threading them; excess moisture keeps the balsamic glaze from clinging properly.
